I tried something new this week for my pictures. A technique called “free lensing.” It’s when you detach your lens from the camera and then place it close, but not attached, to take the picture. It creates a “lensbaby” type blur and it’s so fun. I’m still working on my focus – as you can see in both images I only managed to get one eye in focus. But it was fun to play with. I used my 50mm, 1.4 on my D700 for both of these. I especially love how it blurred the falling snow in the picture of Ryan.
Want to try it for yourself? You can read a tutorial here. Up next, please visit my the blog of my dear friend Estero Child Photographer Shannon Dodge!
